Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering offers the under graduate four year professional programmes, Bachelor of Engineering as shown below.

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Biotechnology
  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Chemical Engineering

The enrolled students for B.E. Biotechnology are trained for the manufacturing & service sectors related to Biological applications in various process industries related to food, medicine and health care. In this pursuit, students get imparted with the knowledge and skills in the core subjects like, Cell & Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Immunology, Enzyme Technology, Protein Engineering, Genomics, Chemical Engineering, agriculture and plant cell technology, Bioprocess and Reactor Engineering, Bio-separation Engineering and Biological Waste Management. Apart from the core subjects, the students will be strengthened with knowledge in interdisciplinary courses of biostatistics, basic electrical and electronics, mechanical workshop and tools, bioinformatics, simulations and management skills.

The enrolled students for B.E. Chemical Engineering shall be trained for the manufacturing skills related to chemical process industries like, petrochemical and its allied industries, cement and construction industries and process simulations and design engineering service sectors.  In this endeavour students are imparted with the knowledge and skills in the core subjects like, Chemical Engineering, Reaction Engineering, Fluid mechanics, Energy engineering, Strength of materials, Heat transfer operations, Mass transfer operations, Transport phenomena, Biochemical Engineering, Polymer Science and  Engineering and Combustion engineering, Rocket propulsion and explosives, renewable and non-renewable energy sources etc. Additionally the students can get exposed to interdisciplinary courses of basic electrical and electronics, mechanical workshop, software tools, bioinformatics, simulations and management skills, Computer aided designs, manufacturing etc.

The department believes and executes in imparting knowledge through class room interaction, realizing the concepts in laboratory facilities and visualize the concepts in executing as part of the project work. Another important addition to the curriculum is to develop the entrepreneurial endeavour in the young talents and nurture their ideas for the successful development of enterprise in their chosen fields of study.
